MAD Drama – James Madison High School
Role in the production: Stage Manager
I took over the role in this very fast paced production after the Stage Manager got sick with the flu for many rehearsals. Our director also had a very bad head injury and couldn’t come in until a few days before the show. It was my first time officially Stage Managing any production and it happened to be a timed performance. My responsibilities included hosting many rehearsals on snow days in my basement as well as cutting down the hour long performance to fit in 30 minutes (all in the span of 2 weeks).
Synopsis
The Smiths are a traditional couple from London who have invited another couple, the Martins, over for a visit. They are joined later by the Smiths’ maid, Mary, and the local fire chief, who is also Mary’s lover. The two families engage in meaningless banter, telling stories and relating nonsensical poems.
