Susan is a Freelance Stage Manager based in New York City. She is currently working at Dallas Opera as a Production Assistant on The Elixir of Love and The Cunning Little Vixen. She has had a passion for theatre since sixth grade when she assistant directed The Music Man. Originally from Vienna, Virginia, Susan still frequents the DC theatre scene and is local to New York City for the next year as she progresses in her professional career. She is interested in stage managing musical theatre and opera with a particular passion for new work in those disciplines. When she is not in rehearsals for a production, Susan is picking out her next pair of funky earrings, filling up her next paint-by-sticker book, cross stitching, trying a new cocktail recipe, or skipping through a field of lavender (her favorite color and scent).
Some career highlights include: Assistant Stage Manager of Hairspay and Frozen at Maine State Music Theatre, Stage Manager of the World Premiere of Flock at The Juilliard School (Dir. by Ellen Lauren), Props ASM of Hänsel und Gretel at The Juilliard School; SM Apprenticeship at Wolf Trap Opera for Carmen and The Marriage of Figaro, Calling SM for Studio Spotlight; Production Assistant on Porgy and Bess at Washington National Opera; Wardrobe ASM on Bogart’s Carousel at Boston Lyric Opera; and ASM on the World Premiere of Haunted at Company One Theatre.
Susan is well-versed in multiple disciplines of Stage Management, focusing on opera and musical theatre. She prides herself on the following abilities: exerting compassionate authority over a cast and crew, complex scheduling, attention to detail, and working effectively under pressure with limited time.
Since Dallas Opera’s season is split, two months in the fall, two months in the spring, Susan is looking for work in the NYC area beginning as early as November 9th, 2026 through the end of December 2026.
